Loomans ThomasLOOMANS, Thomas Johannes  -  It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Thomas Johannes Loomans in his 95th year, on August 12, 2021.

Thomas was the loving husband of Elly for 68 wonderful years.

He leaves behind five children: Saskia (Dan), Marjolyn (Thom), Bastiaan (Marleen), Robert (Michelle) and Mary Jane; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, all of whom will miss him greatly.

Thomas started life in The Netherlands, surviving the German occupation of World War II, and first working in the Merchant Navy as a Chief Engineer.

In 1959, Thomas, his wife and family immigrated to Canada.

He started working in the insurance industry as a pressure vessel inspector and completed his career in the provincial government, retiring with 25 years of service.

He enjoyed almost every minute of his 35 years of retired life, splitting his time between Sarasota, Florida and Newmarket, Ontario.

One of Thom's greatest joys was teaching his children skills, from woodworking to auto mechanics, and much more. At this time the family would like to thank the amazing staff at Amica Unionville for taking such great care of our Dad for the last three years.

A private family funeral will be held, followed by a public Celebration of Life at a date to be announced.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to the Covenant House or the OSPCA.
