Maroosis FrancieMAROOSIS, Francie  - It is with profound sadness that we announce that Francie Maroosis, beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, died August 12, 2021, in Guelph, Ontario.

Francie was born in Oshawa, Ontario, to parents Dr. John and Frances Maroosis.

She attended Coronation Public School, King Street Senior Public School and Donovan Collegiate Institute.

She then moved to Toronto, graduating from York University with a degree in English and French, and then next year from the College of Education with her B.Ed. These credentials launched her into a magnificent teaching career, most of it spent at Oakwood Collegiate Institute in Toronto.

She achieved her grade 10 in piano, played the violin and sang in the choir of Glenview Presbyterian Church.

Francie served as an Elder, taught Sunday school and headed the Pastoral Care Committee. She had a deep and abiding faith, and her faith was the cornerstone of her life.

Francie was invited into the Order of St. Lazarus, which provides funding and resources for hospice and palliative care as its primary mission. Her work as a Council member, Vice Commander and leader in the Ecumenical and Interfaith portfolio was recognized by the presentation of the Commander of Merit Award.

Francie made friends and kept friends. Whether it was her friends from Camp Wapomeo, her high school friends, or her more recent friends from teaching, church, neighbourhood, book club and travel, Francie's door was always open and was home to many fun-filled and delicious get-togethers.

Absolutely devoted to her family, there was never any confusion as to what filled Francie's heart.

She leaves behind her beloved children, Jenny (Steve) and John (Lindsay), her precious grandchildren, Dani and Joshua Guy, Audrey and Alex Stubbs, and her loving sisters, Kathy Green (Norm deceased) and Anne Morison (Charlie).

Words are inadequate to describe the void that her passing has left, but we rejoice in the sure knowledge that after a life well-lived and a valiant struggle, she is at rest.

A Celebration of Francie's Life will be held at Glenview Presbyterian Church, on Tuesday, August 31, 2021.

Regrettably, due to COVID-19 constraints, attendance will be limited and by invitation only.
