Schulz RobertSCHULZ, Roger James - Died on Thursday, August 19, 2021, just one month shy of his eighty-third birthday.

He will be dearly missed by his family, as well as by his many friends, and will be remembered for his devotion to family, his deep curiosity, and his sense of humour, which was with him until the end.

Roger was the devoted husband and companion of Marilyn Faulkner Jordan. They were married for 59 years.

She was his best friend for even longer, and he often referred to her as “my bride.”

Roger was the proud father of two sons, Andrew Phillip and Carl Edward (d. 1986), devoted father-in-law to Lise Kirsten Nelson, and loving grandfather to Axel Carl Nelson Schulz and Simon Edward Schulz Nelson.

Born on September 22, 1938 in Chicago, IL, Roger was the only child of C. Edward Schulz of Chicago and Caroline Elizabeth Rogers of Fort Dodge, IA. He was raised on Long Island in Manhasset, NY and educated in the liberal arts at Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH, where he received his degree in economics.

In 1978, J.P. Morgan opened its Toronto office, and Roger emigrated together with his family to serve as Vice President and manager of Morgan’s corporate banking activity in Canada. Roger later joined the First National Bank of Chicago (Canada) in a similar capacity.  He later served as Senior Vice President of Laurentian Life Insurance Company, overseeing their corporate lending activities, before concluding his career with a lengthy tenure in the Strategic Investments Group at the Ontario Ministry of Industry.

Roger’s family wishes to acknowledge the wonderful care he received at Sunnybrook Hospital in the final months of his life, and particularly the humanity and professionalism of Dr. Marko Brasic and the dedicated nursing staff on K3E.
