Di Giandomenico TommasoDi GIANDOMENICO, Tommaso 'Thomas' - (1923 - 2021) - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Tommaso (Thomas) Di Giandomenico on October 1, 2021, in his 97th year.

Our hearts are broken as we always thought he would stay with us forever; we so much wanted to celebrate his 100th birthday.

Born on December 25th, 1923 to Domenico & Giuseppina Di Giandomenico, in Pietralta,Teramo, Italy.

At 20 years of age he was called to the Italian Army and represented his country in WWII where he was stationed in Greece and Germany on the front lines, and then ended up in Russia. After 18 months in Russia, the war ended and on August 24th 1945, he was sent safely home to his family back in Italy.

Tommaso with his dad and brothers then started a successful business; raising sheep and cultivating many different types of cheeses and ricottas. He met his beloved wife Lidia (nee Novelli) and started their own family having two daughters, Patrizia (Pasqua) and Maria. In 1963 they immigrated to Canada to join his wife’s family and settled in Etobicoke, Ontario.

Tommaso’s career in the construction, steel and food industry lasted many years and upon his retirement he continued working on a part-time basis assembling medical equipment at O-Two Systems.

Tommaso’s friends and family group span many different generations. He had a large social circle and was loved and respected by all. He had a zest and passion for life that could be seen through his friendships and traditions, such as his legendary homemade wine, his strong tasting cheeses & creamy ricotta, his delicious salami & sausages and his art of making tomatoes.

At the age of 97 he was still driving his car and living a fulfilling life surrounded by his family and friends. He had strong family values and was especially happy being an active participant in the lives of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Although his presence will forever be missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him; all of us were blessed to have had him in our lives for such a long time. Our memories will continue to live-on in our hearts, thoughts and family traditions forever. He was a beautiful man and we are all very lucky to have called him Husband to the late Lidia (Novelli), Father to Patrizia & Maria (John), Brother to Gabriele and to Sister Zelinda (Brother to deceased; Alberto, Nello, & Michele). Grandfather to Daniela, Nadia, Shawna (Gary), Tyler (Andrea) Sarah (Phil), Daniel (Jessica). Great-Grandfather to Eliana, Stefan, Sebastian, Alessia, Mateo and Siena. He will be tremendously missed by all his loving nieces, nephews and extended family in Canada and Italy

Always in our hearts and never forgotten; we know you have now joined more loved ones.

May you rest in peace…….We will always love you!

Arrangements are entrusted with Scott funeral home, Mississauga chapel.
