Stephen GeorgeSTEPHEN, George Joseph - On Friday, October 1, 2021, after a long illness, our beloved George Joseph Stephen passed away peacefully with his family by his side.

George was born on July 1, 1943 in Trinidad, WI to the late Christina Stephen and Vincent Lamb. At the age of 16, he left his home village of Biche to study automotive repair and welding and was admitted to study welding and welding technology at John Donaldson Technical Institute in Port of Spain.

While studying at night, George worked small or temporary jobs during the day, until he got a job as a tooling technician with car manufacturing company, Neal and Massy.

At the age of 17, he was introduced to the African Methodist Episcopal church. George accepted the Lord at Fountain AME Church in Barataria, Trinidad and was baptized on August 31, 1962. In 1965, George applied to the Canadian Embassy to immigrate to Canada as a skilled trade immigrant.

On April 22, 1967, he migrated to Toronto, Canada and stayed with two people to whom he was introduced by a mutual friend. George loved God and was a man of great faith. He was a proud and active member of Grant African Methodist Episcopal Church in Toronto, where he met and married his wife of 49 years. He was a proud member of the choir, the Lay Organization and the Trustee Board.

He served God and his community tirelessly and dedicated much of his time to helping and teaching others. George valued education, always encouraging the children in his life to pursue their educational goals. He set the example by continuing to further his own education, attending York University at night to study for a BBA and later graduating from Everest College with a diploma in Accounting and Payroll Administration.

George is survived by his wife, Bertha (McAleer) Stephen; their four children Joseph (Alexiis), Patrick (Farrah), Juanita, and Courtney (Laura); and his ten grandchildren; and his twin sister, Georgiana. He is predeceased by his younger sister Pamela.

George will be loved and missed by his family, community and countless friends.

Arrangements are entrusted with Giffen-Mack funeral home, Danforth chapel.
