Aguirre PapangAGUIRRE, Modesto “Papang” - It is with sadness to announce that Modesto has peacefully laid to rest at home at 5:31 pm on October 31, 2021 while surrounded by loving family.

Papang was predeceased by his loving wife, Vivencia “Mamang” and is survived by his Children and in-laws Bernice (Cesar), Consie (Willy), Modesto Jr. (Gloria), Ulysses (Mary Jay), Fleur, Licerio (Elvira), Florence (Dante), Jovencio, Alexis (Angie), Baby Vivencia (Keith) and Bernice Apple (Anton) along with his grand children and great-grand children.

Born on June 15, 1921 in Cadiz city, Philippines, Papang joined the underground guerilla movement during the second world war fighting for freedom against the Japanese. With the help of the city mayor, he survived the brutal torture when he and his group were captured while completing one of their missions. After the war, Papang joined the Philippine Army, then transfer to the Anti-smuggling Center of the Philippines until he retired.

Papang and Mamang together with their four children moved to Winnipeg and joined his oldest daughter Bernice on October 28, 1982. Papang has fulfilled his dreams in Canada. He was happy, cheerful and gentle, he was loving and kind, the best father to his children and he was a kind of Lolo “Grandpa” everyone wants to have. Living in this world for more than 100 years, there was nothing more that papang would ask.

We sincerely thank the Brameast Palliative Care, Dr. Smitha Giridhar, Amanda Maclennan, Christine Molina from LHIN, Jennifer (Palliative Care Coordinator) and Bayshore Nurses for their help and support for Papang during the time of need.

Visitation will be held on Friday November 5, 2021 at the Brampton Funeral Home and Cemetery, Brampton from 5-8pm. A Funeral Service will be held at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church on Saturday November 6, 2021 at 11:30am. Followed by Burial.
