Saunderson PatSAUNDERSON, Patrick Alan - April 14, 1931 – October 29, 2021

Our beloved Pat passed away peacefully on Friday evening at Wellesley Central Place, The Rekai Centre, in Toronto.

For the past 6 ½ years, he had optimistically faced his health challenges with courage.

Following an initial fall in Palm Springs in February, 2015 – brain surgeries, dementia and a diagnosis of Parkinsons finally took their toll.

Pat leaves behind his caring wife of 39 years, Laird Munroe Campbell Saunderson and her dear friend, Vivian Beaver Saunderson, his first wife of 18 years.

He was predeceased in England by his brother, John and wife, Jean, and brother, Jim.   Surviving him is Jim’s wife, Mary; his brother, Robert “Bob” Saunderson and wife, Carma.  He so enjoyed his summer reunions at his niece’s home – Wendy and Timo Leppala and always treasured visits with nephew, Roy Saunderson of Magrath Alberta, his wife, Irene and their clan of wonderful children.

He loved his English family – Marc and Jan; Neil and Judith, Lynn, Gary and Brian and he will be dearly missed by Nik Chatterjee and his amazing family.

Pat was born within the sound of Bow Bells in London, England to Margaret Elizabeth Saunderson (nee Cavanagh) and Samuel Stair Saunderson.  He served with British Military Intelligence in Cyprus and then earned a B.Sc. Honours in Economics at the London School of Economics.

He came to Canada in 1954, first picking tobacco in the Tillsonburg area. His most rewarding years in Commercial Real Estate in Toronto were in the days when a handshake sealed the deal.  He was a Senior Executive of several real estate companies operating throughout Canada – Principal Investments, Fidinam, Rostland and P. A. Saunderson Co. Limited, his brokerage company, among them.

Arrangements are being made to take his ashes, and those of his late sister, Irene Harrad, to England to be buried also with another brother, John and his wife, Jean next to his parents at Epsom Cemetery.

We are grateful for his cleverness with words, his quick wit and his love of laughter.  Thankfully, he is no longer struggling and has finally found peace.

Heartfelt thanks to Milagros Cloma, his devoted PSW, for her incredible and patient care of Pat all these years.  He would never have managed without her thoughtful, inspired care and her ability to serve his daily Martini or Scotch and soda.
