MAIN, James Richard - July 4, 1922 - November 28, 2021
It is with much sadness that we announce the death of Jim on Sunday, November 28, 2021.
Jim passed away peacefully, after a year at The Veterans' Centre at Sunnybrook Hospital where he received wonderful care.
He was the deeply loved husband of Kay (Katherine) for 58 years and loving father to Lois Townsend and Stephen Main (Carol). Grandfather to John (Janice), Greg (Caz) and Kelly (Craig, deceased), Trevor and James (deceased).
"GG Jim" to Emma, Zoe, Brianna, Emily, Michael, Ryan, Evan, Audrey, Roman, Freddy and Claudia.
He will be missed by Doug Townsend, his cousins, nieces and nephews, business associates, as well as his many bridge partners.
Jim lived a long life full of adventure and accomplishments. He was a decorated war hero (his Distinguished Flying Medal having been pinned on him by King George VI), a pilot who was able to pass his commercial instrument rating, a CPA-CA with a long career and an accomplished skier, golfer, and bridge player having achieved his Ruby Life Master, and a longtime member of the Thornhill Club.
Funeral Service to be held at Kane-Jerrett Funeral Home, Thornhill, on Friday, December 10, 2021, at 1:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Salvation Army would be appreciated.
