Stock DoreenSTOCK, Doreen Patricia  -

April 7, 1928 -

In her 96th year (of which 94 were great!) Pat Stock passed away peacefully of natural causes at Sunnybrook Centre for Palliative Care in Toronto surrounded by family.

Pat is survived by sons, Peter (Julie Markham), Ian (Joan Evans), David (Diana Wright) and Paul (Louise Stevenson); and grandchildren Jeanette, Jaime, Michael, Julia, Lindsay and Katie Stock.

She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Dr. George W. Stock, and son George.

Pat was born and raised in Vancouver, BC where she earned her degree in Science at UBC. In 1952 she came to Toronto to work as a medical lab technician at Sunnybrook.

Here she met the love of her life, George, and embarked upon a lifelong journey of raising a family, nurturing friendships and giving back through a wide range of volunteer and community works.

Her endless energy, enthusiasm and joie de vivre allowed her to not only raise five sons, but ski (Osler Bluff), golf (York Downs), cottage in Muskoka and hold court at the family home in Lawrence Park where Sunday dinners were a feast of food and love. Her circle of friends included many knitters and quilters with whom she crafted so many wonderful memories.

Well into her eighties (and legally blind) she was still riding her bike on Yonge St. H

er six grandchildren were the joy of her life with whom she shared and passed on her boundless optimism and enthusiasm. Pat will be truly missed by all who knew her.

Special thanks are due to her exceptional personal caregivers from Meliora Care, the medical team at Sunnybrook and the Dunfield staff.

Memorial service to be held at Eglinton St. George's United Church, 35 Lytton Blvd., on Thursday, December 21st, at 1:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Daily Bread Food Bank.
