Donaldson BillDONALDSON, Bill  -

1944 - 2024

On January 30, 2024, surrounded by loved ones, William "Bill" Donaldson gently passed on.

Bill was many things to many people: a loving and devoted partner of almost 55 years to his wife, Sue; adored dad and grandpa to his kids, Leanne (Roger), Mike (Karni) and Andrea (Rob); and grandchildren, Avery, Graydon, Camryn, Gavin and Theo.

He was a cherished big brother to Linda Scheven and Jane Lingerfelt; and uncle to Jeff (Natalie), Jennifer (Mark), Michelle (Greg), Meredith (Reg), Ethan, Emily and Melissa.

Bill was a treasured relative to his enormous extended family, as well as a beloved colleague, mentor and friend. Born in Lafleche, Saskatchewan, while his father was away at war, he grew up in Port Credit, Ontario.

He was the first in his family to attend university, earning his Bachelor and Law Degree at the University of Western Ontario.

He spent the first 30 years of his career in corporate law as counsel for General Foods and Xerox Canada, and once he retired, he found his true calling in his position as Alt Chair with the Ministry of Health, Ontario Review Board, where he worked for almost twenty years.

Bill had a beautiful life full of meaningful relationships, wellness, self-reflection, great times and service to others, which was all enriched by his spirituality, his love of culture, finance, gardening and his voracious reading. Bill was a vibrant optimist who improved the world for many. He will be warmly missed.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 3rd from 1 - 4 p.m. at The Miller Tavern, 3885 Yonge Street, Toronto. Tributes for Bill will take place at 1:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Covenant House.
