Babington AliceBABINGTON, Alice Mary (nee MATHESON)  -

September 12, 1921 - March 17, 2024

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved Mom, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother, Alice Babington, in Toronto.

Surrounded by family in her final days, she died at the age of 102.

Alice was predeceased by her husband, Harold of 63 years; her brother, Jack Matheson; and son-in-law, Paul Wing.

She was the proud mother of Bonnie (Byron Southern), Debbie (Andrew Steen) and Cathy (Paul Wing).

She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Danielle, Andrea, Alex, Adrian, Lauren and Julia; and great-grandchildren, Kiersten, William, Juliette, Beau and Michelle. Alice lived a long, rich life.

She loved her family, good food, music, and arts of all kind. She will be remembered as a kind, generous, and loving person who lived life to the fullest and enjoyed time with family above all else.

Alice grew up in Winnipeg where she met her soulmate Harold and they later settled in Peterborough to raise their three girls. Harold built a cottage near Bancroft where they made treasured family memories for over 50 years.

After Harold's passing, Alice moved to Belmont House in Toronto.

She loved her time at Belmont and with their support she remained independent for her final nine years. We wish to thank the entire Belmont community for the exemplary care that she received.

A private family interment will take place.

To honour Alice donations can be made to the Belmont House Foundation. (www.belmonthouse.com/foundation/donate-now) Or support your local arts community by attending a live event.
