WILSON, Margaret  - 1921 – 2017 After a brief illness, Margaret Wilson passed away peacefully and with dignity at her home in Toronto on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 in her 97th year.

She leaves behind her most precious possessions, the members of her immediate family: children David (Shelagh), Kenneth (Denise Doucet) and Ann (Robert Prichard); grandchildren Amy Wilson (Michael Hamnett), Katie Wilson-Smith (Julian Smith), Hilary Wilson (Neil Rahilly), Erika Alexander (Mark), Alex Wilson, Ian Wilson (Melissa Latulippe), Will Prichard (Paola Salardi), Kenny Prichard (Andrea Marrie), and Jay Prichard; and 8 great-grandchildren.

Margaret was born in Toronto in 1921 to parents who were both school teachers from rural Ontario.

They taught her, among many other things, the importance of education. She met Bill Wilson on a blind date while she was attending Victoria University at the University of Toronto.

They were married in 1942 and they had a loving 64-year partnership until Bill passed away in 2006. She was a wonderful friend to many people and an active member of the community, including with the Auxiliary for the Hospital for Sick Children and the Toronto Garden Club. But more than anything else, she was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her family fondly remembers her warmth, her intelligence and her strong progressive views, which she was never reluctant to express. During her last few years she frequently said she considered herself to be a very fortunate person to have lived in Canada and to have enjoyed such a good life.

As usual, she was right. We, her family, are grateful to have known her love and thoughtful caring and to have had her in our lives for so long. We will be holding a private celebration of remembrance. We want to thank the caregivers at Living Assistance Services, particularly Arlene, for all the joy and kindness they brought to her life.

If desired, donations can be made to the Hospital for Sick Children, Operation Smile or CAMH.
