FAULKNER, Dr. John R.  - Passed away on February 9, 2018 after 70 years of a life well lived.

He was first and foremost a loving husband and father devoted to his family.

He had a wonderful memory and an incredibly quick wit, with delightful turns of phrase that came to be known as "Faulknerisms".

He loved to spin a tale or a bit of history, capturing the attention of a table or an entire room.

The tale might be your own with a humorous twist.

He was a skilled Orthopedic Surgeon at North York General Hospital who saw himself as part of a team and very much appreciated his colleagues and all the people he worked with.

His patients always appreciated the time and care that he took. He loved sports, particularly skating and hockey and provided endless support to his kids in these ventures.

His favourite place was the cottage where life would pause and family and friends would come together. Left with John in their hearts are his loving wife Mary-Ann and his children Katie, Tim, Mac (Diane) and his grandchild Mae. John will be missed and remembered by his brother Bill (Martha), numerous nieces and nephews, in-laws and extended family and friends. May he rejoice in joining his parents (Charles and Mae) and sibling (Tom), predeceased.

Friends may call the Thompson Funeral Home, 530 Industrial Parkway South, Aurora. A private memorial service will be held for family on Thursday, February 15th.

There will be a celebration of John's life on Saturday, February 17th from 2:30 - 5:30 p.m. for family, friends and colleagues at the Toronto Cricket, Skating and Curling Club.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation (www.cpff.ca) or the North York General Foundation (www.nyghfoundation.ca) would be appreciated by the family.
