Kane JanetKANE, Janet Wylie (nee PERKINS)  - Janet passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at the age of 83, surrounded by family.

Predeceased by her husband the Honourable Justice Joseph Charles Kane (2005), son-in-law Bruno Benedetti (2005) and parents Peggy and Ernest Perkins (1995).

Janet is survived by her children Dianne, Terry (Helen), Wendy, John, Steve and Chris (Jennifer); grandchildren David (Mina), Lisa (Moe), Kiah, Sage, Sara, Violet and Joe; great-grandchildren Leila, Selma, Kaden, Kaleb and Saira. Janet was born and raised in Leaside, attending Bessborough Drive Elementary and Middle School and Leaside High School.

Her father was one of the men that helped build Bessborough School. While at Leaside High she was selected to represent Canada on a 7-week tour of the British Isles. The trip included travelling by ocean liner and meeting the Queen at Buckingham Palace.

In the 60s and 70s, Janet spent endless hours driving kids, attending her children's hockey game and skating lessons and sewing costumes for skating carnivals.

Her children have always felt privileged and honored to have such a terrific mother. The two names she cherished more than any other were "Mom" and "Nana Jan".

The family wishes to thank Mary Haliman, the staff at Toronto General Hospital, Princess Margaret Hospital, Temmy Latner Centre for Palliative Care, the Local Health Integration Network and Spectrum Healthcare.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Toronto Cricket, Skating and Curling Club (141 Wilson Avenue) on Saturday, March 31st, from 2:00 to 4:30 p.m.

If desired, donations made to the War Amps of Canada, Salvation Army Maxwell Meighen Centre or Covenant House, would be greatly appreciated.
