LEE, Pamela (nee BARLOW) - February 15, 1925 - May 23, 2018
Eileen Mary Pamela Lee (nee Barlow), died peacefully after a period of illness, in the early morning of May 23, 2018, at Vermont Square nursing home in Toronto.
Born in England. she spent some years as a child in India and had an enduring love of South Asian cooking.
She lived through the Blitz in London, working at the Admiralty, and emigrated to Canada in 1957.
As well as being an involved and caring mother she worked at a variety of jobs from Fortnum & Mason in London England, to her last job as an economist at the Ontario Food Ministry.
Pamela also volunteered for many causes, notably as a Baloo for the Wolf Cubs. Pamela was a proud union leader in OPSEU, a campaigner for the NDP and for justice for women.
A fundraiser and supporter of the United Way and a champion for social justice all her life. Predeceased by her husband Norman William Lee, DFC (1978) and younger son Michael Antony Lee (1998).
She is survived by her son Patrick William Lee, in Toronto and granddaughter Jeralin Pamela Lee Alvarez in the Dominican Republic.
She will be missed in England, by nephews Gavin Selerie, Roderick Jenkins and Robert Jenkins and nieces Clare Selerie, Angela Meech and Veronica Loo. In keeping with her wishes a cremation has taken place.
A celebration of her life will happen in Toronto at a location to be announced later this summer.
