Beeton JohnBEETON, John Frederick  - July 20, 1931 - September 2, 2018

Passed away peacefully in his 87th year.

John "Jack" Beeton at Peterborough.

Beloved husband of the late Joan Fleming (deceased 2016).

Much loved father of Edward "Ed" Beeton (Mary) of Port Hope and Cynthia "Cindy" Scanlon (Mike) of Newcastle.

Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Kevin King (Rhea Kimla), Nicole Beeton (Zane Brown), Stacey Finck (Zach) and Gina Waduck (Jamie) and great-grandsons Dylan and Kyle Waduck and Dez Brown. Brother of Peter Stopp (Anne) of England and the late William "Bill" Beeton of Toronto. Survived by his brother-in-law Roy Harrington and nieces and nephews Miaja Bustanoby, Christopher and Andrew Beeton, Keith Crust, Tracey Buttery and Teresa "Terry" Patterson and cousins Anna Marie Beeton and Lois Hanna.

Mr. Beeton was retired from the Durham Regional Police Service as a Police Officer and a Veteran of the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps where during the cold war he performed medical duties for the Canadian and American (USAF) forces on the DEW line (Defensive Early Warning) in the Canadian Arctic.

He was a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Apsley Branch 381 and a life member 32nd degree of the Scottish Rite, Charleston, SC. Member of the York Rite in Myrtle Beach, SC and member of David T. Campbell Lodge No. 706 Masonic Lodge, Whitby, ON and Bancroft Lodge No. 482, ON.

Member of Shriners International, Algonquin Shrine Club. His other interests were with several historical boards in Ajax and Apsley where he had received recognition from the respective communities and the respective Legions. He was a member of several Genealogical Clubs and an art and antiquarian book collector.

He was a member of Trinity United Church, Apsley.

Friends and relatives may call at The Hendren Funeral Homes, Lakefield Chapel, on Saturday, September 8, 2018 from 1:00-4:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the Chapel on Sunday, September 9, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Heritage Room. Interment for the family at a later date.

As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Peterborough Regional Health Centre.
