Peressenyi IgorPERESSENYI, Igor Andrew Thomas   - June 20, 1926 (Zariecie, Slovakia) - November 14, 2018 (Toronto, Canada)

Predeceased by his parents Rev. Samuel and Zofia Peressenyi, baby sister Vierka, brothers Jan, Ladislav, Juraj and Palko.

Survived by his nieces and nephews Peter, Mirka, Igor, Janka and their families in Slovakia.

Igor was blessed to be the youngest son in a loving, supportive and beautiful family.

As a young boy he already showed an interest and talent for drawing and painting.

This passion for creativity and the visual arts sustained him throughout his life.

Igor graduated from the Faculty of Law (JUDr.), Comenius University, Bratislava, Slovakia, in 1950.

In 1952 he immigrated to Canada (Toronto) escaping from the communist regime in Czechoslovakia, Igor studied hard at night school, worked as a draftsman and earned a degree (Masters of Science) in Urban and Regional Planning at the School of Architecture University of Toronto, in June 1967.

He worked as Principal Urban Planner at the City of Toronto, and from 1974 as Senior Regional Planner in the Region of Peel, retiring in 1991.

Igor was an active member of St. Paul's Slovak Lutheran Church in Toronto, designing a new roof and as a co-planner, co-writer, co-editor of their 50th Anniversary book (Pamatnica 1942-1992).

Heartfelt gratitude to Rev. Ladislav and Katarina Kozak of St. Paul's Slovak Lutheran Church for their love, compassion and support over many years.

Friends may call at the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. W., on Saturday, November 24, 2018 from 11:00 a.m., followed by a Funeral Service in the Chapel at 12:30 p.m. Rev. Kozak officiating. Cremation. Interment at a future date in the family plot in Zariecie, Slovakia.

If desired, remembrances may be made in Igor's memory to St. Paul's Slovak Lutheran Church, 1424 Davenport Rd., Toronto, ON M6H 2H8.
