Janakievski VasilJANAKIEVSKI, Vasil Janakievski - Passed away on Saturday, March 16, 2019 in Scarborough, Ontario, at the age of 96 years.

He will be remembered as a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather, that expressed an uncompromised devotion to his family. His loving wife, Menka, of 68 years, preceded Vasil in death.

Vasil was born to Dime and Menka Janakievski on October 26, 1922 in Velusina, Macedonia. In his hometown, he was united in holy matrimony to Menka Kocovski in 1941. Their union was blessed with three children.

In search of opportunity for his family, Vasil traveled to Australia and then to Canada. His wife and children joined him in Toronto where they settled. With a strong work ethic and perseverance, he was rewarded with a prosperous and peaceful life. He enjoyed being surrounded by his growing family and would often say, “Now that’s what makes me happy, to see all of you together!”.

Vasil is survived by his loving children – Peco (Slavica), Vlade (Rada) and Slavka (Blaze); his 6 grandchildren – Jimmy, Lila, Olivera, Diana, Suze and Chris; and 13 great-grandchildren – Jordan, Evan, Elle, Greysen, Ava, Samantha, Gabriella, Valentina, Angelina, Anthony, Nikolas, Lucas and Mila. “Dedo” will be deeply missed by all and never forgotten.
God bless his soul, and may he rest in peace.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 19 at Heritage Funeral Centre from 5 to 9pm. The funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday March 20, 2019 at 12:00pm at St. Clement of Ohrid Macedonian Orthodox Cathedral, 76 Overlea Boulevard, Toronto. His resting place will be Scarborough. Reception will immediately follow at St. Clement of Ohrid Cathedral Banquet Hall.
