D'HONDT, Patricia Anne (nee MOSES) - Patricia Anne (Moses) D'Hondt, 80, of Toronto, ON, died peacefully, on April 15, 2024 at Michael Garron Hospital.
She was born on April 18, 1943 to James Alexander Moses and Ruby Lucy (Porter) Moses in Ohsweken, Ontario.
She attended the University of Toronto and completed a diploma in physiotherapy, possibly becoming the first Indigenous woman in Canada to serve as a licensed physiotherapist. She never confirmed this fact as it was more important for her to serve her patients than to win accolades.
She spent four decades employed by the Arthritis Society, various hospitals, and home care providers, serving patients in Vancouver, Chilliwack, Norfolk and Brant Counties, Moosonee, London, Kingston, and Belleville.
She was also an avid curler, lawn bowler, sailor, mystery novel reader, Downton Abbey appreciator, community volunteer, theatre lover, and lacrosse fan. She was married to Roger Aime D'Hondt for over forty years, decades spent living and travelling throughout Canada in a series of adventures their friends and loved ones remember to this day. Pat is survived by her children, Jeff and Sara; her son-in-law, Colin; and her granddog, Sammy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her siblings, Margaret and James; and her brother-in-law, Dan Webster. A private cremation will occur.
