MACKAY, Ross   -  Died peacefully, at St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto on April 28, 2024 after a 3-year struggle with cancer.

Born in Brockville, Ontario, in 1941, the eldest of Keith Alymer Mackay and Madeleine St. George Mackay (Anglin), Ross grew up in Toronto and attended St. Michael's Choir School, graduated from Jarvis Collegiate and attended the University of Toronto.

He had the wisdom and determination to pursue his interest in meteorology, resulting in a 30-year career with Environment Canada, in Simcoe, Mount Forest, Toronto and Ottawa.

Throughout this time, Ross kept in touch with close friends who relied on his friendship. After retiring, he made a bold decision to change his lifestyle and moved to Greece, where he lived for 25 years with his friend, Louise Girard, in the beautiful city of Kastoria.

During the peak of the COVID pandemic Ross reRoss was the beloved brother of Steve, Hugh, Ian, Maddy and Martha; brother-in-law of Jon, Eleanore, Annemarie and Susan; and uncle to Kelly, Geoff, Maddie, Josh and Ewan. Grateful thanks for all the visits, well wishes and prayers from friends and family.

Special thanks to the Annex staff, to Dr. Ko and the team at the Oncology/Daycare Unit for their wise and compassionate care, and to the staff at St. Michaels' Palliative Care Unit. Special thanks to Louise Girard and Lise Anglin for their support during Ross' battle with cancer.

A gathering to celebrate Ross' life is planned for a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations made to St. Michaels' Hospital Oncology Department would be appreciated at: www.stmichaelsfoundation.ca.
