She was born in Toronto in 1925, the daughter of Edna (Moffat) and Harold Thomas.

Sonya worked at the CPR as a young woman and travelled the world, by boat and by train, before her marriage to Glenn Munro in 1950.

She was dear mother to Brock and Glenna and loving grandmother to Melanie, Kerry and David.

She was predeceased by her husband in 1987, by her brother David Thomas in 2014 and is survived by her brother Noel Thomas (Carol), her sister-in-law Tricia Thomas and by many dear friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Sonya's name to the Malvern Red and Black Society (malverncollegiate.com/ donations/), a volunteer group Sonya enjoyed working with for many years.

A private family service and interment at her husband's side will be held later at the Toronto Necropolis.

A memorial celebration of Sonya's life will be held in Toronto at a later date.
