McKeown EdwardMcKEOWN, Edward Nugent (Ned), Ed.D,   - Born October 24, 1929, passed away at home on May 25, 2018, surrounded by loving family.

Predeceased by sisters Nancy and Kathryn ("Kay") and survived by his wife Barbara Antheunis; first wife Shirley (née McKellar); children Ann and Rob; stepchildren Sera, Justin and Jason; and numerous grandchildren, cousins and nephews.

Ned was a lifelong educator, notably the Director of both the Toronto and Metro Toronto School Boards.

Ned also sat on numerous boards and foundations including TEOF, LEARNXS, CTYS, the Sunny View Foundation and the George Brown Board of Governors.

While Ned was well known for his leadership and his skill set in finance, his passion was ensuring that children of all abilities were afforded equal opportunities to flourish.

Throughout his career, he always followed his heart to do what was right and left a legacy of firsts within the education system. Ned kept his sense of humour right till the end - he loved his poker games and time with family and friends. He was much admired and will be greatly missed.

Visitation for Ned will be at the R.S. Kane Funeral Home at 6150 Yonge Street between 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, May 31st. A private family celebration of his life will be held following visitations.

In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity (TEOF, LEARNXS, CTYS, Sunny View) would be greatly appreciated.
