Passed away at home with his loving wife and family by his side on Thursday, August 13, 2026. Brian was in his 78th year when his courageous battle with cancer ended. Beloved husband of Sandra (Mistele) Munro for 53 years. Cherished father of William “Mike” Munro (Anne Seabrook) and Matthew Munro (Kellie). Adored grandfather of Sam and Skye Gussack-Munro. Dear brother-in-law of Bonnie Cashmore (Mike), Jackie Reibling (Glenn), Kay Munro (Bill) and Mary Munro (John). Fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by his parents William and Olga (Bashura) Munro, stepmother Geraldine (Laley) Munro, brothers William “Bill” and John Munro, and brother-in-law Glenn Reibling.
Brian Douglas “Sarge” Munro was raised on the family farm in the Windsor/Harrow area. He was a member of the Ontario Provincial Police in Middlesex County for nearly 30 years.
In his youth and young adulthood, he loved both hunting and fishing with his father and brothers. There were very fond memories made with extended family of the numerous vacations to North Bay and surrounding area. He also enjoyed his time growing up with the many horses both he and his family raised. Later, Brian would become involved with the harness racing community, where he was part owner of his pride and joy “Local Boy”.
Brian was an avid golfer, both in his younger years as well as his retirement. During this time in their lives, Brian and Sandra spent many winters in Florida, where numerous friendships were formed. He will be remembered by all of those who spent time with him on the course over the years, both in the London and Tampa Bay golfing communities.
In his later years, Brian enjoyed the simpler things in life, spending time with those who meant most. There were endless hours spent around the card table, both with his in-laws as well as his poker friends. There were countless memories made with his wife Sandra, enjoying their favorite programming and cheering on their beloved Blue Jays. And there were the numerous calls shared between him and his loved ones.
Brian will be missed by all of those who came to know him for his quick wit and dry sense of humor. At times, he could be a man of few words, but Brian was very kind and generous, and his family will always know the love and pride he had for each one of them.
He will be especially missed by his wife and two sons, for his unwavering support, guidance and companionship.
The family would like to thank the Verspeeten Family Cancer Centre, Ontario Health at Home Palliative Care as well as the Victorian Order of Nurses for all their care and support. Special thanks to Dr Welch and Nurse Practitioner Phil Daniels, as well as Brian’s immediate neighbours in the Parkbridge Community who assisted him in his time of need.
Respecting Brian’s wishes, Cremation has taken place and a private celebration of life will occur with family in the future.
