Passed away peacefully on August 7, 2026 at the age of 84 years old. Born in Northern Ireland, Bill immigrated to Canada as a young man on the Empress of Britain in 1960, arriving in Toronto and beginning a new chapter of his life. In 1963, he married Susan Emma Harrison, with whom he built a life filled with family, hard work, wonderful memories, and many happy years together.

Bill was the proud father of Sandra (Peter) McFetridge and Keri (Brad) Thomas, and a loving grandfather to Liam and Logan. His grandsons were among the greatest joys of his life, and he took immense pride in watching them grow into the wonderful young men they are today. They brought him endless happiness, pride, and love.

Bill enjoyed a long career with Oshawa Transit, where his commitment and care behind the wheel earned him safe driving recognition awards each and every year. Following his retirement, Bill embraced the next 30 years to the fullest, spending his winters in Arizona and enjoying the warmth and friendships that came with his time there.

Anyone who knew Bill knew the pride he took in his home and property. A meticulous gardener, he was known for his carpet-like lawn and flowers planted with perfect precision. Even while wintering in Arizona, where grass and flowerbeds were replaced by desert landscaping, Bill found a way to keep everything just so — right down to his perfectly raked rocks. No matter where he lived or what the landscape offered, you could count on Bill having the best-looking property on the street.

Above all else, Bill was a devoted family man. He treasured time spent with the people he loved, not only his immediate family, but also his nieces, nephews, and their families. Whether gathered around for tea, sharing stories, playing cards, or enjoying a round of golf, those simple moments together meant the world to him and became some of his most cherished memories.

Bill will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his family and friends.
