It is with heavy hearts that the family of Richard Alan Staunton announce his passing at Heartwood Long Term Care Home in Cornwall, Ontario, after a lengthy illness.
Born in New York State, Rick’s siblings include sisters Lynne Staunton of Florida, Barbara (Clarke) Richmire of Cornwall, Karen MacNeil of Mississauga, and Paul Staunton of North Carolina. Uncle to Nathan Richmire, Sara Richmire-Kint, Sean MacNeil, Scott MacNeil, Adam Staunton, and Eric Staunton. Great uncle to MacArthur, Everly, Killian, Magnolia, Skyler and Presley (PJ). Rick was predeceased by his wife and love of his life, Nancy Sunderland (2008) and his parents, Kenneth Staunton (1982) and Betty Gordon (2012).
In keeping with Rick’s wishes, cremation has taken place in care of the West Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, Ottawa.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2026, from 1- 4 p.m. at 18695 Paragon Road, Cornwall.
