Manuben Athia

May 2, 1946 – April 13, 2026

thumbnail 5

Wife of Bhikhabhai.

Proud Mother of Charla and Paddy. Grandmother to amazing grandkids Leena, Natasha, Ashna, Sahil and Penny.

Mother-in-law to Harshad and Kumud.

She arrived in Canada on April 26, 1975 with Charla and Paddy when they were only 5 and 3. She had never left India, barely left her village. She didn’t understand any English, and still, she managed to navigate her way to a new country with two young kids.

Ba was a foodie and loved to try new foods and cook for her grandkids. Her favourites were honey crueller and coconut donuts, pistachio ice-cream, French Vanilla coffee, nachos, and Pizza Hut. She would watch cooking shows everyday but never made anything from them. We would joke with her about it and ask “so will you make this recipe?” Being a foodie she would take inspiration and make it her own.

Manuben Athia was, and still is, a well loved and a gentle soul.

As she now joins her parents she will be missed by many.
