It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Brian Douglas Reardon after a short, dignified battle with cancer and its complications. Brian was born on January 22, 1948 in Oshawa and lived many happy years in Oshawa and Orono before moving to Stirling in 2017. He passed peacefully at Belleville General Hospital on March 12, 2026.
Brian was the beloved husband of Joan (Cooper) for 55 years, loving father of Andrew (Jen) and Stacy (Kelli), proud grandfather of Emily, Melissa, Asher, Joshua and Jacob. Son of the late Arthur and Alice Reardon, son-in-law of the late Butch and Audrey Cooper. Brother to Alice, John, Carol and the late Gladys and Jean. Uncle to many cherished nieces and nephews. Fiercely loyal to friends and family, he maintained decades long relationships through life’s ups and downs.
He was a tough old guy, sometimes gruff on the exterior but a softie at heart.
Brian spent his youth abusing the pavement around Oshawa with his pack of speed demons and their cars. This love of cars fueled a 45+ year career as a mechanic. If you owned a car in Oshawa between 1966 and now, there’s a good chance you benefited from his wisdom.
By trade, Brian was an outstanding mechanic with many successful years as a Service Manager at several Canadian Tire and Walmart locations. In life he was the “go to guy” for many, always helping anyone who asked; fixing anything that needed fixing. He took immense pride in repairing cars and problem solving as well as celebrating the successes of a few special people he mentored. He also found joy caring for the tractors and ‘Mater at Farmtown Park in Stirling, Ontario. He was always ready for a chat, no matter who you were and had a gift for making people laugh and feel at ease in any situation.
Brian’s priority in his final days was to make sure those he loved and cared about knew how he felt. He wanted us all to carry that forward, so please pay tribute to him by showing your loved ones how you feel – hug them, kiss them, don’t hold it in.
In honour of Brian, a celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Belleville General Hospital Foundation in memory of Brian.
