It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Filippo La Sala on July 2, 2026, at the age of 81.
Predeceased by his parents, Andrea La Sala and Francesca (nee Castiglione), three brothers and three sisters.
Filippo is survived by his loving partner, Ruth Libby, a sibling, sister-in-law, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and great nieces and nephews from Sicily, Argentina, USA, and Canada.
Filippo retired from Chrysler after 31 years of service and was affectionately known as “Emergency Relief” by his coworkers. In retirement, he travelled often to his hometown San Vito Lo Capo, where he enjoyed his home, tinkering with his car, tending to his garden and chasing his dog Gulio.
He had a deep appreciation for the outdoors, an avid Hunter, excellent gardener, amazing dancer and the most loyal fan to Juventus FC soccer team.
Filippo and his mischievous smile were always ready to help. He enjoyed time spent with family and friends and he loved to dance the night away.
Filippo was loved by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Although “little” in stature, he left a BIG imprint on those who shared his life. He will be missed, but remains forever in our Hearts.
A heartfelt thank you to Ruth for being a wonderful caregiver to Filippo, as well as a special thank you to the Hospice of Windsor Team, who took amazing care of Filippo.
A memorial visitation will be held at Windsor Chapel Funeral Home (Central Chapel) 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E. (519-253-7234) on Wednesday, July 8, 2026 from 10:00 am until the time of the Funeral Service in the chapel at 11:00 am. Interment at Heavenly Rest Cemetery (5005 Howard Ave.). As per Filippo’s wishes, cremation has taken place. In memory of Filippo, donations may be made to the Windsor Cancer Center Foundation or to The Hospice of Windsor/Essex County.
