Passed away peacefully at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on January 15, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born on May 31, 1949, in Moncton, New Brunswick, Lyall was the beloved son of the late Calvin and Gladys Bishop. He was predeceased by his brothers Winston Bishop (Eleanor) and George Bishop, and is lovingly remembered by his sisters Elizabeth Bishop and Ruth Bishop.

Lyall was the devoted husband of Cynthia Bishop, with whom he shared 53 years of marriage. He was a loving father to Crystal (Stephen) and Corinne, and a proud and adoring Pop to Chayden (Ashley) and Caleb (Emma). He will also be fondly remembered by Carol Williams, Iona and Roy Brookes and Geneva Fox. Predeceased by Aubrey and Carolyn Osmond and his many nieces and nephews.

A dedicated and hardworking man, Lyall always put his family first. His lifelong passion was working at College Woodwork as a millwright, where he devoted more than 40 years of his life, leaving a lasting impact through his skill, commitment, and generosity. Known for always going above and beyond, Lyall was someone his family and friends could rely on without hesitation.

Lyall’s kindness, dedication, and quiet strength will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

A Memorial Service will be held at Northcutt Elliott Funeral Home, 53 Division Street, Bowmanville, on Sunday January 25, 2026 at 1:00PM with Reception to follow.
