It is with deep sadness that we share the sudden passing of Ronald Guy Lore, on November 26, 2025, in Victoria BC, at the age of 89.
Born on December 25, 1935, in Victoria, to Charles and Roselyn Lore, Ron lived a quiet, unassuming life.
He was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Roselyn Lore, his brother Ken, and sister-in-law Mary.
Ron’s legacy lives on through his family. He is survived by his brothers Dan, Terry (Sharon), sisters Pat (Bob) and Joyce. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews: Zelda (Stirling), Leslie (Stephen), Russ (Tracey), Karen (Mike), Charlene (Mark), Ryan, Leanna (Tom) and Darren; as well as grand-nieces Tia, Celia, Adalia, Jade, Olivia, and grand-nephew Chad.Ron attended George Jay Elementary and graduated from Victoria High School. After graduation, he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force, achieving the rank of Corporal after serving five years. He developed the skills and calm precision that would define his career as an expert telecommunications technician. His career took him all over the world installing & maintaining telecommunication systems on the Dew Line and in Africa, Vietnam, Bangkok, Jordan, and Beirut to name a few. His humble military and defence career reflected a deep commitment to technological precision and national service of which we are all so proud.
Known for his fiercely independent spirit, Ron lived entirely on his own terms, as someone who “marched to the beat of his own drum”, always showing up unexpectedly. Whether it was wearing his signature Tilley hat or flashing a wide grin reminiscent of a Cheshire Cat, Uncle Ron exuded a mysterious charm and silent love for us all.
A true tinkerer at heart, Ron had an uncanny ability to fix anything electronic. He found joy in taking things apart and putting them back together better than before, maybe with a few extra parts. Although not known for his baking in a family of bakers, he was famous for his overdone “hard” cookies which were best enjoyed dunked in tea. In retirement he enjoyed travelling, reading, puzzles and gardening.
At this time there will be no formal memorial service. The family kindly requests in lieu of flowers or gifts, donations may be made in Ron’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Ron will be deeply missed, but his spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him and serve as a reminder of a life lived freely and fully, just as he did.
