With family at her bedside, Sylvia left us to be united with her Saviour, Jesus, on December 14th, at the age of 89. We are happy and comforted, knowing she is free from the burdens of this life and is filled with exceeding joy in her Heavenly home, where we will see her again.
Sylvia was born in Edmonton AB, and lived in many places across Canada while growing up, including Hay Lakes AB, Morin-Heights QC, Montreal QC, Brentwood Bay BC, and St. Albert AB, eventually putting down roots in Kelowna in 1970, where she lived until her passing.
Sylvia is lovingly remembered by her children Michael (Caroline) and Cheryl (Lyle); her grandchildren Stephen, Audrey (Kyle), David (Val), Matthew (Ana), Alexander, Kate, Cara, Courtney, and Joelle (Robyn); as well as her great-grandchildren Addison, Evangeline, Charles, Cooper, Jayce, Oliver, Torin, Norah, Marshall, Aiden, and Morgan.
She was predeceased by her husband, Michael, in 2013, and her son, Timothy, in 2025.
We want to extend a special thank-you to the staff at Mountainview Village, where Sylvia resided for the last 2 1/2 years. She enjoyed living there and had a close bond with the staff and residents, with whom she prayed and lovingly joked around with.
We would also like to thank the nurses and doctors who cared for Sylvia while she was in the hospital. You were all very patient and kind, and we are forever grateful and appreciative of your compassion and professionalism.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, for everyone wishing to attend. Come have a game of cribbage and share your stories as we remember with fondness our mother, your friend, Sylvia
