David George Ones

March 13, 1932 – December 19, 2025

Side-by-side portraits of older and younger man.

The family of David George Jones is saddened to announce his unexpected passing on December 19, 2025, after a wonderful life filled with love, laughs, and endless stories.

Left to hold him dear to their hearts are those he loved most, including his loving wife of 48 years, Gilberte; children, David (Karin, d. 2025), Christopher, Margaret (Keith), and Janet (Jim); 9 grandchildren; brother Ian (Linda); niece, Sarah (John); and many extended family members and friends.

He now goes to join his parents Arthur and Alice, and brother Bob, who passed before him.

David was born on March 13, 1932, in Surrey, England, to Arthur and Alice Jones, the eldest of three boys and a hard worker from the very beginning. As a child, he delivered newspapers and even collected and sorted scrap metal after air raids—experiences that shaped him and became the basis of many incredible stories he and his brothers later shared about growing up during the war. David eventually fell in love with and married his first wife, and together they welcomed four children while life took them on adventures around the world. After settling in Canada, he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force, where he thrived as an airplane engine technician, respected for his skill, dedication, and work ethic.

In 1977, David met his second wife, Gilberte, and together they enjoyed 48 wonderful years filled with love, partnership, and laughter. He was a true sportsman who loved golfing, football (soccer), rugby, fishing, and curling—and he was never one to sit still. Known for his quick wit, great sense of humour, and his ability to tell a story like no one else, David left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

He lived fully, loved deeply, and made a meaningful impact wherever he went. He will be greatly missed.
