January 26, 1959 – December 4, 2025

Person sitting in blue stadium seats

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our father, grandfather, husband, son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend Wally St. John Baker.

Wally was born on January 26, 1959, in Guelph, Ontario and passed away unexpectedly on December 4, 2025, in Kelowna, British Columbia. He is survived by his father Walter Baker (Patricia) and mother Lorraine Baker. He is also survived by his best friend and loving wife Arlene Baker; his daughter Ivy (Darcy) Ausmus and grandchildren Jace, Cooper and Karlee; his son Ab (Amanda) Baker and grandchildren Max and Jett; his stepson Colin Morrow; his stepson Leon (Kim) Morrow and their son Jakob; brother D’Arcy (Wendy) Baker; brother Gene (Lisa) Baker; sister Leslie (Gunter) Klett; and stepsister Manon Ste. Marie.

Wally was predeceased by his son Wally Jr. in 1995; his wife of 33 years and the mother to his children, Gloria, in 2014; and his sister Laura in 2025.

Wally grew up in Ontario before heading west to British Columbia where he met Gloria, fell in love and started a family. They then relocated to Burstall, Saskatchewan in 1990, where they settled and raised their family. After the passing of Gloria in 2014, he was blessed to find happiness again with Arlene, with whom he shared seven years of love, laughter, and partnership. Together, they enjoyed raising their two dogs, Skylar and Sydne.

Wally was an extremely hardworking individual and worked in the trades his entire life. He loved to travel, and working in the trades helped realize his dream of working and travelling throughout the Middle East. He was an animal lover and owned numerous exotic animals over the years. He loved the simple things in life including playing cards, visiting with friends and spending time with family. In honour of Wally, please raise an ice-cold Kokanee and toast a life well lived. He would insist on nothing less.
