She was born on November 7, 1938, in Delisle, Saskatchewan—the second daughter of Fred and Margrete Wyatt of Swanson, Saskatchewan.
Louise trained as a Medical Technologist through the Canadian Society of Medical Technology, beginning a long and accomplished career that took her from coast to coast across Canada and as far as Southern California. She worked in hospital laboratories, taught students, and contributed to important virus research projects—dedicating her life to advancing medical science and helping others.
On November 9, 1966, she married Keith Pocklington, and together they made their home in North Vancouver, sharing many happy years until his passing in June 2006.
Louise had a deep love of travel—a passion she discovered early in life. She set out to see the world and truly succeeded, exploring every corner of the globe with curiosity, courage, and joy. Her adventures brought her lifelong friends and countless stories that reflected her open spirit and love of discovery.
In retirement, she pursued another lifelong interest: the stock market. What began as a hobby soon became a second career, and she embraced the challenge and excitement of the financial world with the same dedication and intelligence she brought to every endeavor.
Louise was the epitome of a trailblazer—never afraid to take on a challenge, especially when told something couldn’t be done. Known for her sharp wit and no-nonsense attitude, she was often the first to call “BS” when the situation demanded it—always with a twinkle in her eye.
She will be lovingly remembered by her sons Gary (Jodi) and Todd (Darcy) Pocklington, and her cherished grandson Macoy Pocklington. Louise will also be fondly missed by her sisters Murial, Peggy, and Phyllis; her brother Bill; and her extended family, friends, and colleagues whose lives she touched through her kindness, intelligence, and generosity.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 22, from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. (location details to follow).
