It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Janice Giacomoni (Leslie), on Friday September 19th, 2025 after facing corticobasal degeneration. She passed peacefully, surrounded by her loving family.
Beloved wife of the late Dave Giacomoni, with whom she shared 41 wonderful years of marriage. To her daughters, Shanda (Travis), Niki (Greg), and Kaleigh (Josef), she was more than a mother; she was a confidant, role model, and friend. The bond they shared was extraordinary and will live on in every memory. Janice will forever be remembered by her grandchildren Rylan, Brooklyn, Henrik, Parker, and Kennedy.
Daughter of the late Sam and Jean, Janice will also be lovingly remembered by her siblings Linda (Ted), Debbie (Ron), Barb (Jim), and Bruce (Ginette), and is predeceased by her siblings Bob (Delma), Sandra, and Cheryl. Janice will be deeply missed by her extended family, nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Janice had a kind and generous spirit and a deep love for her family. She expressed that love through baking and knitting, until her illness made them difficult, and through countless conversations filled with her quick humor. She will be remembered most for the love she had for her family, a love that was at the heart of everything she did.
Family and friends are invited to gather at Barnes Memorial Funeral Home Ltd., 5295 Thickson Road North, Whitby, ON.
• Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 21, from 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm.
• Funeral service will take place on Monday, September 22, at 1:00 pm, with a reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Janice may be made to Princess Margaret Women’s Health.
