It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joseph A. Hamilton on September 8th, 2025, in his 94th year.
Joe is survived by his loving and devoted wife Valerie of 36 years and predeceased by his dearly departed wife Sonia (d. 1985). Joe is also survived by his daughter Mary Sonke, his step-son Richard (Tracy) Elliott, and his step-daughter Jane (Alan) Waltham who will miss him more than words can say. Joe loved spending time with his 10 grandchildren, Bradley Joseph Sonke (Shiloh), Khalin Elliott (Chris), Alexander (Amy) Sonke, Rachel Tonaj (Tyler), Devon (Devyn) Clement, Sarah (Ilija) Opacic, Brandon Tonaj, Claudia Sonke, Hayley Elliott (Ben), and Owen Waltham, and his 10 great-grandchildren Carson, Mia, Amara, Penny, Elena, Ksenija, Tyberius, Harrison, Luka and Loretta.
Joe was a long standing electrician of Local 1005, Stelco. Joe was also an avid golfer, bowler, gardener and master storyteller.
Friends will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek, on Thursday, September 11, 2025, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Friday, September 12, 2025 at 11 a.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel.
