Allen Reynolds

November 14, 1941 – August 24, 2025

Smiling person wearing glasses and a suit

It is with deep sorrow and much love we announce the passing of Burton Allen Reynolds, who went home to be with his Lord on August 24, 2025, at the age of 83. Allen is now joyfully reunited in heaven with his beloved wife, Elsie May (Conroy) Reynolds. Born on November 14, 1941, to the late Joseph and Alice Reynolds, Allen was raised in the Rondeau area alongside his sisters Joan Bower (Harold Walker) of Halifax, NS, and Nancy (Tom) Houston of Chatham. He was also a brother-in-law to Peggy and the late Lorne Conroy of Ridgetown and Donald Weston of Victoria, BC. Allen will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.

Allen and Elsie were married on December 28, 1963, and shared a beautiful life together filled with love, laughter, and many hours two-stepping around the dance floor. Together they raised two children, BethAnn (Mike) VanDeVelde and Jaye, and Allen’s greatest joy came from being a devoted grandfather to Kelsie and Stacie VanDeVelde, and Daniel and Haylee Reynolds. He wasdeeply involved in their lives—reading stories, teaching them to fish, tending the garden, and, later, challenging them to a good game of cards.

A man of deep faith, Allen was a lifelong Christian who lived out his beliefs and was an example of grace, kindness, and devotion to his children and grandchildren. His commitment to his faith grew stronger with time, and he remained active in church throughout his life.

Professionally, Allen was a self-employed electrician and concluded his career working at Ridgetown Home Hardware. He loved the outdoors—spending time fishing, hunting, and enjoying peaceful drives by the lake.

Those wishing to honour Allen’s memory are invited to consider a donation to the Chatham-Kent Hospice, Emmanuel Congregational Church or to the Blenheim Medical Health Hub.
