ST GELAIS, Daniel “Dan” Rene St Gelais

“Always surrounded by love” Daniel “Dan” Rene St Gelais suddenly welcomed into God’s Presence on Friday, May 22nd, 2026, at the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital at the age of 59 years. Born in Tillsonburg, Dan was predeceased by his parents Real “Ray” St Gelais and Betty Marie (Murray) St Gelais. Much loved husband of 37 wonderful years to Lisa (Winkworth) St Gelais, of Tillsonburg. Proud and loving father and father-in-law of: Matthew (Tina), of Aylmer; Alicia (Rob) and Danielle (Nicholas), all of London. Proud grandfather of Tyler and Criss. Dear Brother of Murray St Gelais, of Tillsonburg, Bonnie (Bill Culver) of Simcoe and Betty Jo (Pete Klassen) of Tillsonburg and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Survived by a Special Father-in-law and close friend Ernest Winkworth of Tillsonburg and late Sharon (Hurst) Winkworth (January 1, 2019). Dan will also be missed by several friends throughout the area.

Dan was a good person who was well-liked by many friends. He treasured his wife Lisa and their family. Dan collected thousands of cans for the generous assistance of Tillsonburg Shrine Club to ultimately benefit the Shriners Children’s Hospital. Dan loved the outdoors especially campfires, camping, boating and RVing with friends and family.

The St Gelais family will receive friends and relatives at the Maurice J. Verhoeve Funeral Homes – Burial and Cremation Services Inc., 262 Broadway Street, Tillsonburg on Friday, May 29th, 2026, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. A Complete Memorial Service to Honour Dan’s Life follows in the Verhoeve Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, at 2:00 p.m., by Pastor Dave Heinrichs of First Baptist Church, Tillsonburg, officiating. Later inurnment will take place in the Straffordville Cemetery.
