It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of William (Bill) Joseph McCarvell, who passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 18, 2026, in London, Ontario, at the age of 85.
Born on November 1, 1940, in Stratford, Ontario, Bill was the beloved son of William A McCarvell and Eleanor V McCarvell (née Routhier). Bill built a successful career in business, first in Toronto and later in London, where he owned and operated a respected real estate company. His entrepreneurial spirit, determination, and strong work ethic earned him the respect of colleagues, clients, and friends alike.
Bill was a fierce competitor whose passion for life was evident in everything he pursued. As a proud football player at Catholic Central High School during the Fred Kennedy years, he developed a lifelong love of athletics and competition. Whether in business, on the playing field, or later on the golf course, Bill believed in giving his very best. Golf became one of his greatest passions in later life, bringing him countless hours of enjoyment, friendship, and challenge.
Above all, Bill was devoted to his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Brenda Joyce (Joyce) McCarvell (née Cowlan), whom he married in 1964; his children, William K (Bill) McCarvell, Robert (Rob) McCarvell, James (Jim) McCarvell and his wife, Linda Probyn, of Toronto, and Michelle Grindrod (née McCarvell) and her husband, Andy Grindrod. His cherished grandchildren, Michael, Peter, Joshua, Ashley(Lyle), Victoria, Alyson, Matthew, Natalie, and Jon. He was predeceased by his daughter-in-law, Josie McCarvell (née Van Lanen), beloved wife of William K (Bill) McCarvell.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the physicians, nurses, and staff of the Parkwood Institute Palliative Care Unit. Their compassion, dedication, and exceptional kindness brought great comfort to Bill and his family during his final days and will always be remembered with sincere appreciation.
