SMITH, Eveline “Evelyn” May Smith

A resident of Ridgetown, passed away at Riverview Gardens on August 9, 2026 at the age of 98.

Evelyn was born in Cobalt, Ontario, daughter of the late John and Jessie Reid.

She is predeceased by her husband Douglas (1997), her brother John (Audrey) of Florida, her sisters Mary Reid (Ottawa) and Dorothy Gingrich (Colin) Codrington, and nephew Colin Reid Codrington (Gingrich).

Evelyn is survived by her sons Douglas (Diane) Grand Bend, Scott (Racheal) of McKay’s Corners and grandson Mathew Ryan Smith (Ricki) of Kapuskasing and great granddaughter Clara.

Evelyn worked for 29 years as a secretary at Ridgetown D.H.S. and retired in 1993. She had many happy memories of her years there.She also volunteered for many years at New To You, a consignment store, sponsored by the Presbyterian Church, Ridgetown.

Cremation has taken place. In keeping with Evelyn’s wishes there will be no visitation. There will be a private interment at Greenwood Cemetery in Ridgetown at a later date. She wished to be quietly remembered by her friends.

Donations may be made in memory of Evelyn to the Ridgetown Public Library, the Salvation Army or to the charity of your choice.
