KOUTLEMANIS, Harry Koutlemanis
May 21, 1939 - June 21, 2026It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved husband, father, and cherished papou, Harry Koutlemanis, on June 21, 2026, at the age of 87.
Harry Koutlemanis is survived by his devoted wife, Despina; his loving children, Nick (Barbara), Tammy (George), and Elizabeth; and his cherished grandchildren, Niki and Nicholas.
Born on May 21, 1939, in Argos Orestikon, Kastoria, Greece, Harry was the youngest of seven children. From an early age, he developed a passion for baking—a craft that would remain a lifelong source of pride, purpose and joy.
After immigrating to Canada and settling in Toronto, Harry met the love of his life, Despina. They were married on December 12, 1969, at Saint Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, beginning a lifelong partnership built on love, faith, devotion, and unwavering commitment to family. Together, they raised three children and created a home filled with warmth, laughter and strong family values.
A hardworking and dedicated man, Harry built a successful career doing what he loved. He worked as a baker and later becoming a bake shop manager with Food City/Sobeys, where he dedicated 35 years of service before retiring at the age of 65. He took tremendous pride in his work and was especially known for creating beautiful cakes, pastries, cookies, and countless baked goods that brought joy to family and friends. Baking was more than a profession—it was an expression of his creativity, generosity and love for others.
A man of deep faith and strong Greek values, Harry was an active member of Saint Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, where he volunteered for many years. He was also a proud member of the Kastorianon Association.
Following retirement, Harry and Despina enjoyed travelling to Greece and spending time with family. He found happiness in life’s simple pleasures: cooking, baking, tending to his vegetable garden, and spending time in his garage, where he was always fixing, building, organizing, or improving something. Harry had a remarkable ability to repair almost anything and was known for his creativity and resourcefulness. Most of all, he cherished spending time with his grandchildren, whom he adored.
Above all else, Harry was a devoted family man and he treasured every moment spent with them. He believed in teaching by example and took pride in sharing his knowledge with his children and grandchildren. Whether it was teaching us how to drive, change the oil in a car, work with our hands, or simply helping with everyday tasks, he always included us in what he was doing. The lessons he taught us, both practical and personal, will stay with us for the rest of our lives.
Harry leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, kindness, hard work, and devotion that will continue to guide and inspire all who knew him.
Though our hearts are heavy with his loss, we take comfort in the countless memories he gave us. We will forever miss his warm smile, his caring presence, and the familiar sight of him standing at the front door, waving goodbye as we left the house—a simple gesture that reflected the love he always had for us.
Dad, thank you for everything you have done for us. For the sacrifices you made and for the values and lessons you taught us. We are grateful for every moment, every memory and every act of love you shared with our family. Your guidance, strength, and support shaped us into who we are today. We love you deeply, we miss you every day and we will carry your memory in our hearts always.
