Passed away at Peterborough Regional Health Centre, on July 31, 2026. Joan née (Colbourne) at age 94.
Joan Gewndolyn McLean was born on November 23, 1931, in Corner Brook Newfoundland, to parents Agustus and Jessie Colbourne.
Joan married Ronald McLean in 1954, and lived in the Bramalea area until their retirement. Joan worked as a clerk, at Nortel for over 30 years.
Joan was a kind and loving mother, and a devoted “Nana” who cherished every moment with her grandchildren. She and Ron shared a love of their cottage, where they spent countless happy years before making Bobcaygeon their permanent home in retirement. Together, they created treasured memories boating with their grandchildren and were always willing to drop everything to drive several hours whenever their family needed a babysitter. Joan and Ron also shared a deep appreciation for nature and birdwatching, and they enjoyed taking scenic road trips to Canada’s East Coast, exploring its beauty and making lasting memories together.
Beloved wife of the late Ronald McLean (d.2024). Loving mother of Randall McLean (Michele) of Lakehurst, and the late Robert McLean. Devoted Nana of Zachary McLean of Kelowna BC, and Carly McLean of Peterborough.
Predeceased by her sister Shirley White (Harvey), Douglas Colbourne (Ruth), and brother-in-law Dave McLean.
