Passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, in his 81st year.

Beloved father of Kim (Scott) Biesenthal of Walkerton, DeAnn Adams of Surrey, BC, and Dave (Jen) Durrer of Mildmay. Doug will be dearly missed by his wife Marlene Bross and her children, Tracy (Josh) MacDonald, Lori (Ken) Ruetz, Tanya (Bill) Lorentz, Mandy (Jay) Riegling, Craig Bross (Angie Fidler), and Cory Bross (Shelby Clancy).

Douglas Albert Durrer embodied the role of Grandpa and will be forever cherished by his grandchildren, Sarah (Tim), Tess, Eliza, Addy, Leah, Lauren, Abby, Darren, Ashley, Amber, Brooke, Emma, Marley, Owen, Kali, Sydney, and Travis. Great-grandfather of Acacia and was eagerly awaiting the arrival of a second great-grandchild.

Dear brother of Darlene (Fred) Schiestel, Ron (Phyllis) Durrer, Phyllis (Tony) Wise, Shirley (Dwight) Metcalfe, Chuck (Donna) Durrer, Butch (Char) Durrer, Sandra (Doug) Inglis, Brian (Sherry) Durrer, and sister-in-law Barb Durrer.

Brother-in-law of Shirley (Lloyd) Kuntz, Ruth (Doug) Bestward, Michael (Laurie) Fischer, Donna Drisdelle (Ken Nussey), Carol (Guy) Drisdelle, and Jeff (Linda) Fischer. He will also be fondly remembered by the Schmidt family and many nieces and nephews.

Waiting in heaven with open arms is his beloved wife, Irene Durrer (nΓ©e Schmidt); grandson Curtis Biesenthal; brother Ken Durrer; nephew Mackenzie Durrer; daughter-in-law Amy Bross; parents Jerome and Marie (nΓ©e Huber) Durrer; and members of the Schmidt family.

A private family service will be held at the Cameron’s, followed by interment at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Formosa.

Doug’s life was celebrated from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2026, in the Pavilion at the Formosa Community Recreation Centre. A brief time of remembrance was held at 2:30 p.m.
