It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Sylvia Margaret “Marg” Briggs at Hospice Quinte on June 3rd, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. Born in Wellington on September 6, 1943, Marg was the beloved daughter of the late Jim and Reta Barratt. She was predeceased by her cherished husband George Briggs, with whom she shared a loving marriage beginning in 1963. Marg was also predeceased by her brothers Ray and John (Freda).
Marg’s kind and gentle spirit will be deeply missed by her sisters Kathy (Fred) and Barb. She was the proud and devoted mother of Steve (Sue) and Kelly (Kevin), and a loving grandmother to Julie (Riley), Danielle (Alex), Keith (Carly), Alexis (Marco), and Dean. Her legacy continues through her treasured great-grandchildren: Liam, Ivy, Hudson, Tucker, and Reed.
She will be missed by many nieces and nephews. For the past 13 years, Marg shared a special companionship with Doug, whose presence brought joy, laughter, and comfort to her life. Marg will be remembered for her quiet strength, her devotion to family, and the warmth she shared so generously with those around her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Quinte in her memory.
