It is with great sorrow that we announce his passing at the Timmins and District Hospital on Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at the age of 74 years.
Gilbert is survived by his children: Raymond Fortier of Ottawa and Natalie Snider (Jesse) of Temiskaming Shores, his grandchildren: Alexandre, Cassandre, Arlena May, Jordan and Eric, and his great-granddaughter Everleigh.
Also left behind are his siblings: André (Johanne) of St-Basile-le-Grand, QC, Roland of Toronto, Jeannine of Niagara Falls, Daniel (Denyse) of Timmins, Claudette Morissette (Mark) of Porcupine, as well as several nephews, nieces, uncles, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents Gérard (2006) and Jacqueline (2010) Fortier, his brother Gaëtan Fortier (2015), and his sister Madeleine Fortier (1978).
A special thank you to all the doctors and nurses from the Timmins and District Hospital, and to Serge McLean of Miron-Wilson Funeral Home for his compassionate and professional services.
As per his wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held on Monday, June 2 at 11 a.m. at the Timmins Memorial Cemetery.
Remembrance donations to the Canadian Lung Association would be greatly appreciated.
