With heavy hearts and much love, we announce the passing of Baerbel (Barbara) Schweizer on April 4, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on December 22, 1939, in Dresden, Germany, Barbara emigrated to Canada with her mother and siblings as a young adult. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Siegfried (Fred), whom she married in 1961. Together they created a beautiful and loving family.
Barbara was a cherished mother to Susan (Wayne), Michael (Nataliya), and Stephanie. She was an adored Omi to Kristy (Tyler), Andrew (Diana), Nicole (Luke), and Michelle (Mitchell), and a proud Great Omi to Max, Owen, and Bennett. Her kind heart and generous spirit touched all who knew her. She was happiest when surrounded by her family and friends, and her devotion to her grandchildren was truly inspirational.
Barbara lived life to the fullest and embraced every opportunity with enthusiasm. A dedicated sports fan and advocate of healthy living, she embodied energy, grace, and resilience. She will be deeply missed, but her love and legacy live on through those she held dear. Her family feels profoundly lucky and forever grateful to have called such a remarkable woman their Mom and Omi.
