
Margarete Kisser Obituary
Margarete Kisser passed away peacefully on August 31, 2026, at the age of 86.
Born in Neukirchen, Germany, on May 14, 1940, Margarete was the youngest of eight children. At age 13, she moved to Sudbury, Ontario, with her mother, sister, and three brothers. She professed her Christian faith at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sudbury on April 10, 1955.
Margarete later moved with her mother to Kelowna, British Columbia. In 1971, she met and married Helmut Kisser, and the couple moved to his farm in Valleyview, Alberta, where Helmut had three children from a previous marriage. Margarete and Helmut welcomed four children together. They sold the farm in 1979 and returned to Kelowna to raise their young family.
She is survived by her children, Walter Kisser (Claudia), Manfred Kisser, Ruth Cochrane (Ron), and Rosie Stuart (Brad); her stepchildren, Heidi Raboud, Dennis Kisser (Linda), and Cheril Walper; eight grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Margarete was predeceased by her mother, Berta Neumann; her brothers Walter, Werner, Kurt, Ernest, Heinz, and Siegfried; her sister, Hildegard; and her husband of nearly 50 years, Helmut.
Her family thanks the staff of the Driftwood Unit at Cottonwoods Care Centre for the care they provided during her final four years.
Funeral Service
A funeral service was held on September 4, 2026, at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, British Columbia. Interment followed at Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery, 1991 Bernard Avenue, Kelowna.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the BC SPCA.
