Arnold “Rod” Akester Obituary
Arnold Rodney “Rod” Akester passed away in Port Coquitlam, British Columbia, on September 2, 2026, at the age of 86.
Rod was devoted to his family and friends and happiest in the company of those he loved. A longtime educator in School District 43, he taught students at the elementary, middle, and secondary levels.
For more than 50 years, Rod was an active member of Como Lake United Church. He also contributed to the Tri-Cities community through his work with the Riverview Horticultural Centre Society on Serenity Gardens in Port Coquitlam.
Rod enjoyed gardening, travel, the outdoors, singing, dogs, and a good cup of hot chocolate. He will be remembered by his family, friends, former students, church community, and the many people touched by his community service.
Celebration of Life
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at Como Lake United Church, 535 Marmont Street, Coquitlam, British Columbia. A reception and refreshments will follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to CLEAR Alzheimers.
