Sharon LeClair (nee Sullivan)

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Sharon LeClair née Sullivan at age 82 on the morning of Wednesday September 2nd 2026, following a prolonged battle with cancer. She was survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Noel LeClair, daughter Kelly LeClair (Becher Raffoul), son Christian LeClair, grandchildren Nicholas and Syranda Raffoul, and brother James Gilbert Sullivan (Aline Croteau), and predeceased by her parents Gilbert Sullivan and Helen (Ellen) Sullivan of Sheenboro. Sharon will be mourned by her extended family and many friends, who she held dear. She will be remembered by all as a kind and generous woman who cared deeply for the people around her.

Sharon was born in Val d’Or QC, and lived and worked for most of her life in Montreal before moving in 2005 to Pembroke, Ontario, with her husband following their retirement. Sharon possessed a natural gift for fostering community wherever life led her. As a dedicated member of the Catholic Women's League (and having previously served with the Daughters of Isabella), and an avid volunteer, she was always among the first to offer her time and spirit in service to others. She was a creative soul who found the beauty in the ordinary, and helped others to see it too.

She was an avid reader of biographies, stories of faith and the spiritual world, and historical fiction, always curious for glimpses into lives beyond her own. She loved to travel, including on many trips to South Africa where she developed an appreciation for the art and culture she encountered. Outside of her reading time she was known to rarely sit still, always in motion and looking for a new project. While always crafty and artistic across numerous mediums, she came to especially love painting later in life, producing many beautiful works that will be cherished by those left behind. She was quick to laugh, share a joke, and was the center of many stories that even in this moment of fresh loss continues to bring laughter to those who remember her.

Friends are invited to share their memories of Sharon with her family on Monday September 14 at the Murphy Funeral Home, 296 Isabella Street, Pembroke from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday September 15th at 10:30 a.m. at St. Columbkille’s Cathedral, Pembroke. Interment Rideau Memorial Gardens, Montreal at a later date. In memory of Sharon, donations to the Pembroke Regional Hospital, Cancer unit would be appreciated.

THE MASS WILL BE LIVE STREAMED ON TUESDAY at 10:30 AM AND RECORDED FOR VIEWING LATER TUESDAY AFTERNOON. THE LINK IS BELOW THE OBITUARY.
