
It is with broken hearts the family of Gerald Wayne Daoust announce his passing with family and friends by his side on Sunday, May 17th at the Kingston Health Centre. Gerry Daoust of Brockville aged 73 years. Beloved husband of devoted wife Lynn (nee Launderville) Daoust. Loving father of Jennifer Daoust (Corby). Proud papa of Casey, Jaelynn, and Coralynn who all captured his heart.
Gerry was a loved brother to Steve (Sandy), Paul, Denise Dunnigan (Mike) and Diane Minkhorst (Gary). Gerry is also survived by his sister-in-law Bonnie Nicholl (George) and brother-in-law Jeff Launderville (Carol) as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Gerry was predeceased by his son Michael and his parents Gaetan and Peggy Daoust.
Gerry was born on June 8, 1952 in Montreal, Quebec to Margeurite (Peggy) and Gaetan Daoust. Gerry was a kind, warm and gentle man who embraced life and always greeted you with a smile on his face. Even through his battles with cancer and numerous other health issues he always remained upbeat and cheerful
Gerry met the love of his life and best friend Lynn at a dance in Prescott and together they recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary!
Gerry grew up in Prescott, Ontario along the St. Lawrence River. Gerry enjoyed playing sports as a youngster especially hockey, softball, table tennis and golf. He loved playing outdoors as a child and would often be found playing hockey on frozen ponds, ball hockey on the streets, touch football at Fort Wellington or playing golf at the Prescott Golf Club. Later in life golf became his passion and he spent many, many days playing with friends and family.
Gerry enjoyed his retirement after working for 25 years with the Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario.
Gerry was a passionate Montreal Canadiens fan and hardly missed watching a game at home. Gerry developed a deep love for music at a very early age and attended over two hundred concerts and music shows!
Gerry will be missed by many, many lifelong friends!
The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the doctors and nurses of the Brockville General Hospital and the Intensive Care Unit of the Kingston Health Centre.
Family and friends will be received for visitation at the Barclay Funeral Home, 137 Pearl Street East, Brockville on Wednesday, May 27th from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 p.m. The Funeral Service to celebrate Gerry’s life will be held in the Chapel of the Barclay Funeral Home on Thursday, May 28th at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place at a later date. In memory of Gerry, donations to the Gerry Daoust Memorial Fund at the Prescott Golf Club or to a charity of your choice would be gratefully acknowledged by the family.
